Who can be on deck?
« on: June 13, 2013, 10:41:43 PM »
There is currently nothing on the calendar or home page for tomorrow night's FNO that is supposed to be hosted by HCF.  I have sent HCF an email asking them to advertise their FNO.

However, and I must do too much contingency planning at work, I'm just curious....  If we find out that HCF somehow forgot their FNO (it has happened in the past to a few ARTCCs), which ARTCC or ARTCCs could put one together on short notice?  Say, 2359-0400 or 0500Z?  In the past, sometimes individual ARTCCs have pulled us out of the fire, and in some cases, multiple ARTCCs came together to do it (lessening the workload on each ARTCC, because finding controllers that last minute can be challenging).

So, anyone want to volunteer to be on deck, just in case?  Don't volunteer until the ATM, DATM and/or EC have already spoken and agree, and you have tentative commitments from enough controllers that you feel you can pull something off.  If you're close, you can always hit up the Ace Team....

Sorry to exercise the system in the event that HCF has it covered and just forgot to advertise....  But, at least if it's nothing else, it's good practice, eh?   Thanks.

ZDC will be staffing up the PCT tonight -- Anyone else in the east want to staff up for a nice wide selection and spread out the traffic?

HCF has responded that they are unable to host FNO tonight.

This is not a drill!  Need an FNO host for tonight.  ZDC has said PCT will be staffed (Center too?  Which towers?).  AVA is flying out of BOS and DCA tonight.  Can ZBW and ZDC host a Northeast Regional Night?  Anyone else on the East Coast join in and we just have a large East Coast staff-up?  Anyone else already working something based on last night's post and you were just getting ready to announce that you can host?  We're a few hours away....  Whatever we can pull together would be great.

DCA, IAD and BWI will be fully staffed (APP & TWR, working on snagging GND for at least DCA). We will have N/S split on Center. Moderate staffing the first hour, so please bear with us until around 0100z.

Thanks to ZDC, and to all who came out to save the day.  At 0230Z, there were 13 ARTCCs online plus NY Oceanic and ZMO Oceanic.  Great showing; great to see nearly 50% of the country, plus lots of water, covered.

Again,

Thank you!

Thanks for everyone else in showing up. We did not get much aircraft (I think we had sixty something arrivals into our airports in three hours plus another 30ish over-flights and 30-ish departures) but it was pretty relaxing and traffic was not bad (Having DCA in north ops always makes life easy ).

It was really cool to have been apart of that last night, my traffic in ZTL was kind of light, but it was nice to see VATUSA show up like we did

Our traffic as well was light at first, but then built up to moderate. Not as much traffic as some FNO's in the past, but it sure proved the saying that many hands make light work. Nice to see everyone lit up like that
