This sounds fun! Also the Sierras are a separate range from the Rockies :D :D

Maybe it's new geography like all the new math... Rocky Sierrans perhaps??? ;-)

We may need to divert to JFK Smiffy with this single-airport KALB F-NO!

Is this Friday, April 23rd (USA Time) or is this on Saturday, April 24 as the event banner indicates? Also, is this FNO as well?

Events / Friday Night Flights - KMYF [April 9, 2021]
« on: April 06, 2021, 09:40:16 AM »

This Friday we invite you to join us for Friday Night Flights (FNF)! This Friday's destination is San Diego's Montgomery-Gibbs Exec Airport (KMYF). KMYF is a perfect field to bring your bizjets for a fun weekend of sun and fun in beautiful San Diego! So fire up that Bizjet or take your personal prop VFR this Friday night (US-New York East Coast Time - EST) into KMYF landing between 0100z and 0130z (Friday, 9:00-9:30 PM US-EST Time).

The goal of FNF is for everyone to fly into a selected airport, in the participating FNO area, arriving around a pre-selected time! An arrival time will be posted each week along with the FNF arrival field and your goal is to fly anything you wish from anywhere you chose, arriving as closely as possible to the listed arrival window. If you are in the mood for some low and slow, take out that prop and join us. In the mood for something larger, pull that bizjet out of the hanger and we'll see you there. Depending on the field size, you can even fly your favorite airliner in.

Is this for FNO on Friday the 22nd or is really on Tuesday, 1/26?

I fly so sporadically now so this observation may be irrelevant, however I feel there is such a lack of "regular" atc online lately that any event draws 80% of the daily traffic. Yes, that's a made up stat just like most, however it just seems ATC along with Pilots have no idea how to handel their respective "equipment..." ATC should be issuing vectors and speed restrictions to avoid the inevitable final approach load described above. Pilots should use VATSPY or whatever map client to help ATC out the same way.

I find it a bit comical that ATC is here complaining about pilots ability to fly (I get it, 60% of the pilots on VATSIM probably would be better off trying to put a round block into a square hole, but...) when most of the issues I experience, again in limited time recently, are inept controllers.

It is what it is though. You can't have a free network of both pilots and ATC without these issues...

General Discussion / Re: Most scenic US flights?

ZSE's "Fly the Gorge" event a couple weeks ago got me thinking -- where are some other really scenic flights one can make in the US?  Obviously there's the Grand Canyon, the Manhattan skyline, the various resort airports around Colorado, the Florida Keys -- maybe around Mount Rainier, too -- what are some other "pretty" US flights you've done that you recommend?

Probably my all time favorite:

Somebody's looking for a pretty title next to his name. You may want to get a few years of VATSIM both flying and controlling under your belt before looking for the glory.

Rob Lawrey on Oakland Center is who deserves big props! His tower and app bailed on him 1/2 through the event.

There was an event advertised to go until 05:00z and then all of a sudden almost all tower's and approach controllers bail on Center and it's a cluster - FLOCK!

I don't normally rag on ATC, but those of you who bailed shouldn't be allowed to control anymore. Those that stayed on (Oakland Center) and tried to deal with everyone else's bailing deserve a big raise!

Stuff like this makes me less and less likely to even log into VATSIM anymore.

ZAU uses Bluehost, which has been having major problems all day.  Anyone who uses bluehost (including VATUSA, I'm afraid) has been having service interruptions all day.

Yepper, bluehost is having bIGTIME issues... me sites down too....
