Title: Convert MVA and MIA XML Files to Sector Format
Post by: Justin Shannon on April 29, 2021, 12:18:18 AM
I have created a tool that will convert FAA MVA and MIA xml files to the sector file format.

The MVA and MIA files can be obtained here: https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/digital_products/mva_mia/

The project source code and pre-built binary can be found here: https://github.com/justinshannon/faa-mva-to-sector-file

Enjoy!

Are you a god? Yes, yes you are.

I spent like 40+ hours manually doing the altitudes for MVA data in ZSE a few months ago in AutoCAD, this changes everything. THANK YOU

Hi Ya Justin,
The program did not work for me. Is it not usable on Win 7. I downloaded .net v3.0.1 or better and I get an error. See the attached picture.
Thanks, ed

Is AMA_MVA_FUSS_2020.xml in the same folder as FaaMvaToSectorFile.exe? If not, you'll need to either move it in that folder or copy the full path to the xml file (hold the shift key and right-click on the file and choose "Copy As Path") and use that as the first argument instead.

Hi Ya Justin,
Ignore my fatal error post. It turned out that I can not type characters as I should late at night, after two glasses of wine. I went over each one this morning and, as if by magic, the last character in 'FUSS' is really a '5'. When I made that correction the program worked like magic. Sorry for bothering you.

Great program by the way and thanks for your efforts here. Ed

That is what happened to me, I did the same mistake.

For those of us who are less tech-savvy, is there a bit more clarification on the command prompts and what to input exactly? Getting a lot of the exe not being recognized as an internal or external command.
