The Pack The Pattern event seeks to replicate the busy atmosphere of a commercial airport. Events / BVARTCC Regional Circuit: KMVY and KORH [16 Dec 8-11pm EST]
« on: November 03, 2015, 04:53:46 PM »

You're invited to join the controllers and pilots of  Boston Virtual ARTCC (BVARTCC) for our Regional Circuit event on Wednesday, December 16th from 2000-2300 Eastern (0100-0400z). In the Regional Circuit, controllers fully staff two regional airports, providing complete 'gate-to-gate' coverage over the three-hour event. The focus airports are typically 80-200nm apart, and a high volume of pilots operating in this compressed airspace means the Regional Circuit provides optimal conditions for congested frequencies and busy airways.

From bad weather events to VFR mountain flying to SFRA and airspace avoidance, BVA's Challenge event is designed to put aviation knowledge to practice. Challenge is about learning through experience. Each event involves a specific activity, or series of activities, for pilots to complete. Past Challenge events have included the Washington and New York SFRAs, Class B airspace avoidance, landing competitions, IFR procedures, and Pilot Ratings Program flights.

This event is not about flying missions or winning points. It's about exercising your multi-tasking ability in challenging and unfamiliar situations—something pilots have to do all the time.

In this Challenge, pilots' knowledge of instrument approaches, missed approach procedures, and holds will be put to the test. Participating aircraft should file IFR flight plans involving KPVD and/or KOQU; flights between the airports, 'round robin' flights at each airport, and inbounds from other airports are all encouraged.

For more information and a complete pilot brief, vist the Challenge page
