Please join me in welcoming Shane Friedman as the new VATUSA Staff Development Manager! Shane has been a long standing member of ZMA, most recently serving as the ATM there. With previous experience as the DATM, FE, a mentor, an instructor, and a member of multiple workgroups and other extra initiatives around the division and network, Shane has established himself as a well-rounded and passionate staff member.

We look forward to Shane filling this position and using his past knowledge and experience to continue pushing VATUSA into the next chapter. As the Staff Development Manager (SDM), Shane will work closely with ARTCC staff to improve the onboarding/training process when transitioning into a new role as a first time staff member, work to establish metrics and goals with each ARTCC to further grow the community, and further establish and standardize staff role expectations across the division.

NOTAMs / VATUSA Staff Restructure
« on: April 14, 2022, 09:00:57 PM »
The VATUSA division staff structure is changing slightly to more appropriately balance responsibilities amongst the team. We have decided to not fill the General Manager position and instead share the responsibilities throughout the newly named Deputy Division Directors. This will help flatten out our Air Traffic Services hierarchy and bring the ATMs closer to the Division Director. Please see the new org chart below for more details on this restructure.

We would also like to announce the creation of a brand new ATM Advisory board. This board will meet bimonthly to discuss important topics in the division, and recommend actions to the Division Director. We are excited to continue moving forward towards a more collaborative future and improve communication between the division and ARTCC staff.
