Assume there is an Open Mic Night tonight?
« on: April 30, 2021, 08:31:04 AM »
Quick question -- there's nothing on the calendar for FNO tonight -- so I assume it's an Open Mic Night, but you know what assume means... :)  Is that correct?  Would there normally be something on the calendar to specify Open Mic Nights, or are we no longer doing that?  Thanks!

Hey Don

No event this evening, we're taking it off. Yes you are correct. Open Mic or Light Up America will be posted on the event calendar in the future.

Would it perhaps be helpful to post on the calendar "NO EVENTS TONIGHT" and/or maybe a social media post indicating as much?

Not from my perspective.  An empty slot on the calendar means no event.  I just guess I couldn't get my old-school brain wrapped around no event on a Friday night :)  Now I'm recalibrated :)   Don't mind me, I'll just shuffle back to my dusty old rocking chair in the corner.  Where's my afghan?  :) :)

Not to poo-poo the efforts to keep interest up and traffic buzzing throughout the division, but is "Open Mic Night" (i.e. there's no particular focus facility so just staff up whatever you feel like) really that different from a Friday night without a published event (where there's no particular focus facility so presumably we would just staff up whatever we feel like)?
Cheers,
-R.

Agreed, and I think you left it on your high-back chair next to the scotch and the fireplace 8)

Hey Robert! You're absolutely right, it really isn't that different with the exception that we aren't putting it out there. Our opinion is that in advertising Open Mic Night we are implying that at least one of facilities will be online, so in a sense we are promising service will be available somewhere in the division. Hope that helps!
