Position Posting - HCF Webmaster

Purpose
The Virtual Honolulu Control Facility (vHCF)  is currently seeking a Webmaster who will provide effective management and leadership of the ARTCC's data services, including but not limited to web content development and delivery, web services, email systems.

Key Responsibilities:
-   Report to HCF Air Traffic Manager and Deputy Air Traffic Manager
-   Develops, Manages and oversees HCF Teamspeak, Web Services, IAPs, E-mail and Voice Server, etc;
-   Must respond reasonably quickly to web site and data systems needs
-   Develops and implements policies and procedures for operation and maintenance of the ARTCC new web and data systems
-   Other duties as assigned by ATM/DATM.
-   Select an assistant as needed.
-   Functions as an Administrator and staff member to attend meetings are needed.


Requirements
-   Must be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing with a with no history of unethical practices or misuse of technology.
-   An active member of HCF or willing to transfer to HCF if selected;
-   Capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
-   Must be proficient with modern web programming languages and techniques, including PHP Object Oriented Programming, HTML, PHP/MySQL, CSS
-   Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Skills
-   Demonstrated custom web programming skills and expertise.
-   AJAX/Javascript
-   RSS/XML and DOM
-   Familiarity with APIs for other applications (Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
-   Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience
-   C1 Controller (not required)

Purpose

The Honolulu CF (HCF) is seeking a qualified, professional and motivated individual to fulfill
the role of Training Administrator (TA) to develop and maintain the HCF training department and be the mediator between the CF and VATUSA regarding the hiring of Instructors and VATSIM GRP Training compliance.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversees, develops and Manages the HCF training program
- Reports to the HCF Air Traffic Manager (ATM) and VATUSA Training Director (VATUSA3)
- Hires facility instructors and mentors in consultation with the HCF ATM
- Develops scenario files using Situation Editor for usage in Tower Trainer
- Administer Over-the-Shoulder (OTS) Examinations on Sweatbox or the live VATSIM network
- Train and evaluate members of varying skill levels and controller rating
- Maintains controller and student quality by adhereing to local standards and VATSIM GRP
- Develop HCF training policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the HCF ATM or DATM, or VATUSA3

Requirements

- Hold at least a C1 rating for at least 12 months
- Have held a rating of I1 for at least 30 days at any given time before hiring date
- Have previous training experience
- Have no disciplinary or unprofessional conduct in the last twelve months
- Be capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
- Have a strong knowledge of the United States Airspace and Air Traffic Control systems
- Must be extremely familiar with the FAA JO 7110.65X
- Comprehensive understanding of the VATSIM Global Ratings Policy and how it applies to the development of a training program.
- Have excellent English written and oral communication skills
- Have the ability to create professional looking documents using Word or similar software
- Have membership as a home controller or visiting controller in HCF (Must be certified through center) for at least 60 days.

Preferred Skills

- Supervisory, trainer, or management experience in the virtual or real world.
- Previous or current ARTCC Senior Staff experience.
- Instructor or Mentor experience on the network.
- Real-World ATC or flying experience.
- Prior VATSIM events coordination experience.

the role of Deputy Air Traffic Manager (DATM) to assist the Air Traffic Manager in providing effective management and leadership within the facility.

Key Responsibilities


- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the facility
- Reports to the HCF Air Traffic Manager
- Maintains an active online presence within the facility and on the VATSIM network
- Functions as ARTCC/CF Staff Member and attends periodic meetings as necessary
- Provides for coordination of position assignments and position restrictions when necessary
- Provides guidance and help to assigned controllers or guests
- Assists in the coordination of events that may affect the CF's airspace
- Assists in management of the VATUSA HCF member and visiting controller roster
- Assists the Air Traffic Manager in delegating tasks to other CF staff members and monitoring operations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Air Traffic Manager

Requirements

- Hold at least a C1 rating.
- Have no disciplinary or unprofessional conduct in the last twelve months.

Our good ‘ole buddy Harry Linsenmayer has been appointed as FE at HCF, taking over where our previous FE, Israel Reyes, left off.

Having just earned his S2 rating, Harry is motivated and energetic to be a part of the HCF team and do his part to keep the inner works of HCF well lubricated and maintained.

Thanks to Israel Reyes in playing his crucial part at HCF and helping us keep Paradise sunny side up!

Come Fly With Me / Hawaii staff up Saturday night

Some of us guys at HCF are planning to hop on for 3 or 4 hours on Saturday evening around 2300 GMT until around 0300, or until we get tired  ;D  I have prior arrangements and will be getting on about halfway through.  Hoping to see a good group of guys!

Aloha VATUSA! 

Please join Honolulu CF and me in welcoming Cole Connelly to our ranks as the new Deputy Air Traffic Manager, effective immediately.

Cole comes from ZHU with a diverse background in training and management, mainly as a former Training Administrator.  Through his energy and desire to help us "make paradise great again," we're looking forward to blowing everyone away with the future of Honolulu.  Cole will be directly assisting the HCF ATM in growing the facility.

Let's also thanks Dave Mayes for his help in keeping the seat warm until we could find the right person for the job.  Dave has been an integral part of HCF for over 4 years now and will remain on staff as an instructor.

Let's give both of these gentlemen a round of applause!

Position Opening - HCF Facility Engineer

The Honolulu CF (HCF) is seeking a qualified, professional and motivated individual to fulfill
the role of Facility Engineer (FE) to develop and maintain facility sector files and training files and assist the senior staff in the creation of cheat sheets, LOAs, SOPs, and other facility-specific documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Reports to the HCF DATM
- Creates, maintains, and updates HCF sector files, SOPs, LOAs, and cheat-sheets upon direction and approval of the senior staff
- Updates sector file every AIRAC cycle, as needed (approx. 28 days)
- Coordinates with VATUSA to ensure that Oakland Oceanic files and procedures accurately reflect HCF procedures and sectors
- Responsible for notifying CF members of current updates to facility files
- Assists TA in the creation and maintaining of SweatBox training files
- Ensures that TeamSpeak and the website is properly updated with current facility files, as needed
- Attends staff meetings as required by the senior staff
- Other relevant duties as assigned by the ATM, DATM, or TA

Requirements

- Must hold at least an S1 rating; S3+ preferred
- Be an active member on the network in good standing with no significant disciplinary history within the past 12 months
- Must have excellent English oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be able to conduct themselves in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner that reflects the mission statement and vision of HCF
- Ability to create and/or modify VRC sector files, vSTARS, vERAM and vATIS files
- Must have knowledge of obtaining resource materials to produce Sector, POF, and Alias files.

Purpose

The Honolulu CF (HCF) is seeking a qualified, professional and motivated individual to fulfill
the role of Events Coordinator (EC) to promote HCF through network events and community management.

Key Responsibilities

- Reports to the HCF DATM and VATUSA5
- Creates, manages, and executes events to produce increased pilot and controller participation to promote HCF
- Develops appropriate documents and items required for efficient event planning and controller briefing
- Coordinates with Oakland Oceanic controllers to arrange support for HCF events
- Coordinates with trans-Pacific neighbors (ZSE, ZAN, ZLA, VATNZ, etc) to arrange crossfire and trans-oceanic events
- Maintains relationships with neighboring facilities and virtual flight groups (VAs, VSOAs, etc) and coordinates events accordingly
- Responsible for maintaining and distributing marketing material and maintaining positive public relations with the pilot community
- Motivates HCF members and pilots to participate in CF activities and events
- Maintains active online presence on the VATSIM network as a controller in HCF airspace
- Maintains active online presence in the HCF TeamSpeak server, VATUSA forums, and other standard communication platforms
- Attends staff meetings as required by the senior staff
- Other relevant duties as assigned by the ATM or DATM
