New Airport Runways

New Airport Runways
« on: December 16, 2015, 05:22:30 AM »
Good Morning,

As I begin to work with Vatsim and fsx steam edition, i notice some runways that are in vatsim charts are not right with fsx. For example. I am training out in KPWT or Bremerton National and it has runway 19 and from what I have found from the charts it has changed from 19 to 20 is there a place or file that I can download that will update the airports with the correct scenery for say runway 19 being changed to runway 20 I guess and updated scnenery file. I have updated the nav aids and ils frequencies but was wondering how to change the actual 19 to 20 so I can see 20 in fsx instead of 19. any help is greatly appreciated.

FSX is old, and many things have changed since it was released. Microsoft made no allowances for updating it. Runways, Navaids, frequencies, etc. have all seen changes that are not reflected in the FSX database. It's helpful when flying into or out of new airports to check the charts quickly for just that reason. You can do that by going to www.airnav.com/airports

There are some remedies available. Do a search on "how to update fsx database" and you will see some options.
One of the better ones is here: http://aero.sors.fr/

An updated AFCAD file would be your friend. The avsim library has an extensive AFCAD collection, http://library.avsim.net

You could also look here: http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx/us.html

Like the other guys have said, though, unfortunately with FSX being unsupported by Microsoft, there is no planned update.
