Route information:
If you will be flying an aircraft into/out of N90 that meets any of the following navigational/equipment criteria, please file “RQST TMU APVL” in the “Remarks” section of your flight plan and expect TMU to process your flight plan before you depart (the alternative being controllers passing along your flight plan while you sit on the ground, waiting for TMU to find it):
- AIRAC cycle prior to 1806 (June 2018)
- Non-RNAV capable (any suffix other than /C /G /I /L /S /V /Y /Z)
- Unable to find ANY of the N90 departure fixes in your FMC/FMS database (N90 Preferred Departure Gate Diagram (https://www.fly.faa.gov/Information/east/zny/lga/N90_Final.pdf))
- Unable to fly ANY preferred or previously filed flight plan (utilizing PRD (https://www.fly.faa.gov/rmt/nfdc_preferred_routes_database.jsp) and FlightAware IFR Route Analyzer (https://flightaware.com/statistics/ifr-route/))
- Plan on filing a known historical flight plan route which cannot be found in current flight plan databases.
By filing this note in your remarks, TMU can silently approve flight plan amendment requests and get you off the ground more quickly!
Parking information:
If you know your parking location, please include the following information in your “Remarks” section of your flight plan:
- Terminal
- Taxiway entrance to enter the ramp.
If you do not know your parking location, after landing, exit the runway immediately. During busy periods, it is more important to CLEAR THE RUNWAY than it is to receive taxi instructions.

Can we go to the extremes with this by using FS2004, outdated scenery AND an outdated pilot client (Squawkbox)?

Can we go to the extremes with this by using FS2004, outdated scenery AND an outdated pilot client (Squawkbox)?
So here's the deal: we (at ZNY) are working on gathering old routes and such to/from LGA. So we will be able to cross-check old/legacy routes with the preferred ones as far back as 2001 (the year, and May of 2001 to be specific). However, because flights will be going to/from all over the place--not just ZNY--you should be prepared to amend your route appropriately at the request of ATC in the case that they can't accept the CAP VOR (this was replaced by SPI VOR), for instance. Furthermore, you will NEED to communicate with ATC so as long as you can do that without issue, then you'll be fine.
ZNY will be doing its best to keep track of old/legacy routes and coordinating with our ATC friends to make sure everybody has a good time. For instance, if you file a legacy route that mirrors a modern-day equivalent, we would put something like "modern route: XXX YYY ZZZ" in the flight plan remarks and then coordinate that information verbally.
