Events / KIAH vs MMMX Crossfire 11/9/13 2300z - 0400z
« on: October 22, 2013, 02:25:31 PM »
Um.... Your banner states 11/9 but on the VATUSA callendar, it says 11/10. I sure hope your banner is incorrect as the Denver ARTCC and Salt Lake ARTCC have an event in the books. I would hate to see us stealing traffic from each other.

General Discussion / New ZDV website
« on: August 22, 2013, 11:37:50 PM »
The Denver ARTCC has a new website! Our webmaster has been working very hard for some time and we launched our new site this morning. Please take a moment to stop by and poke around. Let us know what you like, what you don't like, or what you think we are missing. If you have feedback, please don't hesitate to send it to webmaster
  • denartcc.org.

Thanks in advance!

Yep, ZDV has lost about a 1/3 of it's controllers as well as staff.

The Control Room Floor / VRC/Sector files
« on: August 11, 2013, 12:41:42 PM »
I may be mistaken but I think with the newest version of VRC, the user files are actually now to be located in the .../My Documents/VRC/ folder?

For the file association, you can go to your control panel and select "Programs" then "Default Programs" and "Set Associations" then scroll to .sct2 file type and select Notepad.

The Control Room Floor / Video from ZDV's Rocky Mountain Rumble
« on: April 02, 2013, 12:04:32 AM »
I know I like watching these videos so I thought I would share them with you too. This is taken from the Denver ARTCCs Rocky Mountain Rumble back in February. Traffic started off light and then American pounded Aspen and it seemed pretty steady from then on. There's a lot going on in the video and you almost have to watch it twice to appreciate it. You can see that Aspen is not only a difficult place to fly but a hard one to work too.

Why not implement your own tower to every little farm strip across the nation then? If there is an aircraft flying to the field, they must need a tower service, right? I don't see the logic in opening a tower that isn't open. You can still provide friendly and professional service as they will in the real world.

Bringing 91.17 into this is quite comical. Find the line that defines extreme, and you'll be on your way to a much more enjoyable experience on the network.

I would like to pose a question for those who will "over-control".

What are you going to do when you have 2 aircraft parked at one of these fields for departure and one decides to follow you because of nostalgia and contact an overlying controller and the other decides to follow real world procedure. Because of your decision to control a field that would be Class E in the real world, you cause an incursion. Who's at fault? Charts will be updated to say that the field is in fact Class E and we all prefer our pilots to be informed, right?

It is simply my opinion, but I'm with the side of VATUSA here. If there isn't a controller there in the real world, there shouldn't be one there in ours. It would cause too much confusion in an already confusing virtual world.

The Control Room Floor / ARTCC Airport list

Script is up to you, I have something just like it so porting would take a matter of minutes.

And I can't remember from memory... Sorry

Cheers!
Casey Diers did it for me.  He sent me a list of all of the fields within the ARTCC with runways of 5000' or more. I appreciate the offer, Rahul.

The Control Room Floor / ARTCC Airport list
« on: October 09, 2012, 10:15:08 AM »
It is for VRC. I'm building my profile for a CTR position in a visited ARTCC.

Do you know what the limit is? I suppose I could hit the VATSIM forums and find out. I know that Ross checks the forums over there anyway.

Don't worry about a script. I'll try to figure something out.

The Control Room Floor / ARTCC Airport list

I am looking for a way to find all airports (towered and non) for my CTR profile but I'm having an awful time finding a way to compile all the airfields within the ARTCC boundries. Does anybody have a clue as to where or how to get a list?

Ben, head over to the VATSIM forums and post your issues there. You'll get quicker response to your FSINN issues.

General Discussion / Multiplayer flight event

August 32nd is a long way away. Is this a pull for people to join a GameSpy game? Getting people to show up at 0800 CDT will be a challenge too.

Glad you like them. I made them for ease of use. If you have any training rooms, and you know the TS permission system, You can utilize the icons for mentors and instructors to set the server groups (Except SA).
Eh... Our roster isn't very big so I just assigned them to each member individually rather than create groups. It works nicely. Thanks for that.

Here's some more for you.

http://www.vatusa.net/training/tiki-index....uction_to_Tower
-under section F: TIPH is no longer used

http://www.vatusa.net/training/tiki-index....Wake_Turbulence
-The link for the next page still says TIPH

-You say an example is given to demonstrate releases but there is not an example there.

That is all for now.
