News / ZAU Seeking Webmaster

Webmaster

Duties
The Webmaster reports to the Air Traffic Manager and maintains the ARTCC’s website and other
web-based software.

*Attends periodic meetings, as necessary.
*Maintains an active online presence within the ZAU ARTCC and on the VATSIM network.
*Advises ATM of technical issues involving ARTCC technology.
*Develops and implements policies and procedures for operation and maintenance of the ARTCC web and data systems.
*Coordinates with ZAU and other ARTCC staff to mitigate and manage frequency and automation problems.
*Maintains the ZAU TeamSpeak/Discord server and associated applications.
*Frequently checks and responds to emails and contacts in a timely manner.

Requirements
The successful candidate must:

*Be a member in good standing
*Be a member of the ZAU ARTCC, or willing to transfer upon selection
*Hold a VATSIM Tower Controller (S2) rating or higher
*Must be proficient with modern web programming languages and techniques, including PHP, HTML, MySQL, and CSS.
*Maintain active status by logging minimum number of hours in accordance with ARTCC policy
*Be able to work well in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Skills & Abilities
The successful candidate should:

*Possess a high degree of commitment and motivation
*Make every attempt to attend each scheduled event
*Familiarity with the Laravel5 platform and VATUSA API
*Familiarity with APIs for other applications (Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

Priority is given to candidates who:

*Possess experience and certification within the ZAU ARTCC
*Have previous Webmaster experience
*Have previous staff experience in a VATSIM ATC facility, or virtual airline
*Have experience with software programming and/or web development.

This is an open announcement, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

What to Expect

This is an entry-level position.  The workload is light, with moderate peaks when new website features are requested.  All applications will go through an initial evaluation.  Candidates who pass the evaluation will be contacted for a comprehensive interview.  All candidates will be notified if/when a selection is made.

It is with great pleasure to introduce our newest TA Chris Maddox. Chris has been part of Vatsim since 2003 and has held numerous staff positions. I know the job won't be easy but I trust Chris with everything I have in me that he will be great.

Back by popular demand, the Chicago ARTCC proudly presents VatVenture 2018! To celebrate the EAA AirVenture event, the controllers of Chicago will be staffing up KOSH in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 28th from 1700z - 2100z. We invite everyone to bring out their aircraft and have some great summer fun!

Events / Farewell Runway 33 [2359-0300z]

On March 29,2018 as part of O'Hare Modernization Program (OMP). Runway 15/33 (formerly 14R/32L) will be closed and converted into Taxiway SS. Come join us at KORD as this will be the last day for departures off of runway 33.
