All pilots please review the following!!!

If you are flying VFR out of HNL it's going to make it a much smoother flight by utilizing the Freeway or Punchbowl VFR Departures if we are using 04 or the Kona if we are using 22 (weather is still up in the air so...) The frequencies as published are not the ones to expect. You will be assigned the dep freq with your Class B clearance.

Linked below are the documentation on it and a chart supplement for HNL. I will be on HNL TWR over the next couple of nights from around 00z or 01z until 0430z if you wish to ask questions or practice these procedures. Thank you!

Zack:

I'm a little bit unclear. Just verifying that you're inviting pilots to fly Southwest only?

No I think we're suppose to fly AirTran or Northwest. :)

General Discussion / FNO notam questions?
« on: February 21, 2021, 08:37:42 PM »
I just had a couple of questions on the latest VATUSA Notam.

I’m aware of the airspace over saturation’s  and think a change like that is not a bad idea...to an extent. The change I think is valid, and is needed for some ARTCCS.
ZNY, ZLA, ZDV all have either the AARD at a single airport to accommodate that high level of traffic, multiple airports to staff up and use to fly into, and/or the staff behind and controllers with the ability to handle that level of traffic (not saying there those that can’t. I’ve seen a lot of good controllers in my ~ 6 years.)

But what happens about “Live” events that have been notoriously one ARTCC events?

Hawaii or Anchorage (PCF now I think?) Hawaii is so far out there unless you’re leaving 4+ hours prior to the event or only flying inter-island/out of HCF airspace it’s not practical for multi ARTCC events. Alaska ain’t that much better. With it going bi-weekly yeah you’ll get open mic nights, but doesn’t guarantee staffing for those sectors. With FNOs it was guaranteed you’d have ATC in Hawaii (don’t think I’ve seen an FNO out of Alaska.)

I don’t want to fly 6 hours to just not talk to anyone. I can do that offline.

edit: Not intended to antagonize or frustrate anyone. I see both sides of the issue at hand. Controllers dont want to get over saturated and pilots dont like getting put in a hold. It can get a little frustrating for both sides. Just trying to get a better understanding of what all is happening with these changes. Further explanations to the NOTAMs would be appreciated.

If you're flying into Atlanta and are arriving from the South or the N/NE make it known if you can accept Runway 28. It'll help with traffic flow. Yes, I understand its a bit of a longer taxi, but it'll prevent holds and stacks from appearing and delaying your arrival longer than the extra 2 mins it would to taxi.

Submissions? Are we talking like people submit the updates they want to see? I would like that idea. Saves me the time and hassle of finding things and nitpicking.

And I'd like to see someone attempt to update the UI. Something not so Windows 98 looking?

updated once again. I changed the EGTT to reflect LON in an attempt to light up the sectors only being covered. We'll see if this works in the coming days and added a couple of airports. if only being FE was this simple...
