Is my cid the same as my vatsim id cant seem to get started in atc

yes sir that is correct. your CID is your VATSIM ID. Anything related to VATSIM, including ATC with VATUSA will typically use that ID

Hi there, and welcome to the world of ATC.

If you haven't yet you'll need to get assigned to the VATUSA division by filling out the following form: http://www.vatusa.net/join.php (http://www.vatusa.net/join.php)

Once there, you'll be assigned an ARTCC (area) and then the local training staff can get together with you to start training for being a controller.
