Title: Installing New Airplanes for FSX

I am new to FSX and the VATSIM world. I am glad to be apart of this virtual world. I would like to install new virtual airlines. However most ask me to edit the aircraft.cfg file. I do not know how to locate, open, edit and save back into the proper FSX folder. Can anyone walk me step by step through that process? Thanks in advance.
