Title: NAS Pensacola
Post by: Bill Denny on May 31, 2010, 07:31:33 PM
Hey all..

My ARTCC is ZLA, but I'm based in real life at NAS Pensacola.  Wonderin' if anyone else is here too.  I know we got ATC training here, so I'm guessing there's gotta be someone here.  Personally, I'm training to turn wrenchs on MV-22's.  Who's here!?

I live in Gulf Breeze.  There are a few Pilots on VATSIM who are on the Blue Angel Support Team at NAS. Plus the new crew comming in this fall has at least one VATSIM Pilot that I know of.  I'll leave it up to them if they wish to PM you.

I am AC3... went through NATTC, graduated last May, and then got orders across the street on NAS side.  It's oh so fun.. let me tell you.  Are you a student at NATTC?

Yep,

Fresh off the bus from MCT and just got out of indoc.  I'm in AMS-1 residing in H barracks waiting oh so patiently for me to class up which still won't be for a few more weeks.

Good luck. Don't fret it man, you actually have it well off.  NAS Pensacola is one of the better training commands.  Contrary to popular belief, you are better off going through NATTC then going to a place like NAS Meridian.  Rules over at Meridian are tight, nothing to do there at all, etc.  The mall here is about 20-30 minutes away, at Meridian, the TOWN is 20-30 minutes away from the base.

The only way I can relate to any of this is that I flew over Pensacola and Meridian a few years ago in a C207 enroute from DTS to CKM.

Well,

Anyone who is here, hit me up.  Maybe we can all set up as visiting controllers in ZMA or something and have a good ol fashion ATC party.  Pull all our laptops together and light up the skies for a while.

Not like I have much better to do

Why ZMA?

We'll figured if we're in Pensacola we could control in Pensacola.  If y'all came to ZLA that'd be good too since we constantly have a ton of pilots and atc online at any given time.

lol...  Hopefully when you get into class one of the first things they'll teach you is that KNPA is in ZJX, not ZMA

Too bad he's not in the ATC class .  He's an aircraft mechanic (if I understand him correctly), so he doesn't have to worry about what ARTCC his planes will fly in.  But yes, if you're in Pensacola, you're actually in Jacksonville Center, about 10 minute flight east of the Houston Center border.
