Title: Charlie and delta airspace

If im vfr and want to go through c or d a/s
I understand that all i have to do is establish comms

So, if i dont request clearence, then what do i ask for?

You just request what you need. For example, "requesting full stop", "requesting transition to the south", etc.

It's a nice thing to do to inform the tower or radar controller what your intentions are (especially because they'll often ask if you don't).

However, if the controller is doing something else and the conversation ends up going like this:

"XYZ Tower, N12345, VFR request"
"N12345, XYZ Tower, stand by"

then you can still enter the C/D airspace.
