Title: Am I in the right place?
Post by: Serloyd Carter on April 29, 2009, 06:05:41 PM
I'm new to VATUSA and to VATSIM also.  I figured I should join VATUSA since I am flying out of KNUW.

On the main page I clicked the button that said "New Members Click Here."  Well, this lead me to a screen to log on and to take a test for ATC.  I know ATCs are on this site; from what I've been reading.  However, I am here to get into flying.

Am I suppose to take that test or is there a separate test for pilots?  If I am suppose to take the test, which I failed   , is there a way to see what I got wrong so I know what to look up for the next test?

Thanks.

Loyd

Loyd,

Welcome to VATSIM! If you simply want to fly, you don't need to do anything except sign on and takeoff. The tests are only a requirement for ATC.

Thanks Alex, I wasn't sure at first.

The test seemed like some good information to know.  The things I wasn't sure about I looked up so I would know in the future.

Yes, I'm sure a lot of the stuff in our tests would also benefit pilots as well. You can read about those topics here: http://www.vatusa.net/training/reference.html (http://www.vatusa.net/training/reference.html)

Additionally, and probably most importantly, you'll want to have a look at the VATSIM PRC, which can be found at http://www.vatsim.net/prc (http://www.vatsim.net/prc).
