News / ZMA is looking to expand its Training Team!
« on: September 20, 2022, 07:03:23 PM »
The Miami ARTCC is seeking applications for individuals interested in joining our Training Team!

The Miami ARTCC controls from the Tampa International Airport (KTPA) (not including Orlando International) all the way to Southern Florida. We also have our Miami Oceanic sectors which cover the Caribbean all the way down to Puerto Rico.

We have 2 Class Bravo airports (KTPA and KMIA) and 1 major airport (KMIA). The Fort Lauderdale Airport (KFLL) as well as several smaller (but busy) fields underlie the Miami TRACON.

Why join our Training Team?
You’ll want to join the Miami ARTCC Training Team because we have a large number of students seeking to further their virtual ATC careers and you’ll have the opportunity to impact their VATSIM future while enhancing your own Air Traffic Control knowledge and skills.

You’ll also have the opportunity to progress, yourself, into higher ratings and, eventually, have an opportunity to become an Instructor (I1) with the Miami ARTCC.

Training Team Responsibilities
Educate students on Air Traffic Control theory and technical skills in accordance with the Miami ARTCC Training SOP and VATUSA Division Training Policy;
Provide students with constructive feedback with the intention of enhancing a student’s Air Traffic Control knowledge and skills;
Electronically document a student’s progression;
Perform Performance Verification (PV) evaluations on individuals wishing to obtain their Major Endorsements;
Perform Over-the-Shoulder (OTS) evaluations on students seeking a rating upgrade (Instructors, only).

Requirements
To be considered to join the Miami ARTCC Training Team, you should:
Possess an S2 rating, or higher;
Have no significant disciplinary history within VATUSA or on the VATSIM Network.

Being a member of the Training Team requires a small time commitment and we ask that you understand that prior to applying for the position.

Apply Today!
If you are interested in joining the Miami ARTCC Training Team, please submit a virtual resume (outlining your VATSIM experience and relevant real-world experience) to Alex at [email protected].

Individuals who meet the requirements will be invited to an interview. The Miami ARTCC may contact a candidate’s current Senior Staff for a Letter of Recommendation during the process.

Please join me in congratulating Alex Handsaker as the new ZMA TA. Alex has been a former ARTCC Staff member and a former VATUSA Staff member. He’s also an IRL controller and brings a lot of fresh ideas for ZMA’s rebuilding.

At the same time, Erik Quinn will be moving back to the Facility Engineer role. I would like to thank Erik for his dedication and for stepping up as Training Administrator and wish him the best of luck in his new/old role.

Please join me in congratulating both of them!
