News / ZTL is Seeking a new Training Administrator

Duties

The TA reports to the Air Traffic Manager and VATUSA Training Director, functions as a senior ARTCC staff member and oversees/directs the operation of the training program.
•   Attends periodic meetings as necessary.
•   Maintains an active online presence within ZTL ARTCC and on the VATSIM network.
•   Responsible for curriculum development including courses, classes, simulation scenarios, exams and all associated media/material.
•   Manages training staff/appointments providing guidance, coaching and correction where needed
•   Ensures ZTL training program meets ATM goals and current VATUSA, VATNA, VATSIM policies.
•   Responsible for student progression / approves rating promotions.
•   Helps draft changes to Official and Internal Training Documents and Policies.
•   Represents ZTL and ATM to VATUSA training staff; acts accordingly.
•   Quickly and accurately responds to training inquiries from students, mentors, and instructors.
•   Frequently checks and responds to emails and contacts in a timely manner.
•   Assumes the duties of instructor.

Requirements
The successful candidate must:
•   Be a member in good standing
•   Be a member of the ZTL ARTCC, or willing to transfer upon selection
•   Hold a VATSIM Enroute Controller (C1) rating or higher
•   Have held an I1 rating for at least 90 days at any given time
•   Have an extensive knowledge of US airspace, air traffic control procedures and regulations
•   Be familiar with, at all times, the current VATSIM GRP and all applicable VATUSA and VATNA policies and changes
•   Maintain active status by logging minimum number of hours in accordance with ARTCC policy
•   Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
•   Be able to work well in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Skills & Abilities
The successful candidate should:
•   Possess and utilize a high degree of energy & commitment appropriate for this position.
•   Understand this position requires a HIGH time commitment.
•   Demonstrate qualities of understanding, patience and maturity.
•   Have a working knowledge of various training software and scenario-building processes


Priority is given to candidates who:
•   Currently possess an I1 rating or higher.
•   Have instructor or mentor experience on the network, ideally within ZTL.
•   Possess experience and certification within the ZTL ARTCC.
•   Have previous ARTCC (or higher) staff experience.
•   Have real-world managerial or supervisory experience.

What to Expect
Interested candidates should be aware that this is not an entry-level position and not for the inexperienced.  The workload is considerable and should not be taken lightly.  Only those who understand the requirements and can make the appropriate commitment should consider applying.  All applications will go through an initial evaluation.  Candidates then may be contacted for a comprehensive interview. The selected candidate will be submitted to the VATUSA Training Director for final approval and may expect an additional/combined division interview.  All candidates will be notified if/when a selection is made.

ZTL is looking for a new DATM. Please see the following for required/preferred qualifications and how to apply:

The DATM will:
- Report to the Air Traffic Manager
- Assist in management of ARTCC Roster, permissions and access, Discord administration, and other general administrative tasks associated with ATC organization
- Assist in development of ARTCC SOPs, LOAs, Policies, and more
- Maintain an active online presence
- Complete other duties as assigned by ATM
- Coordinate policy changes, disciplinary issues, and other miscellaneous tasks with staff members and the ATM
- Co-lead ARTCC-wide meetings and special sessions

An applicant must:
- Hold an S3 rating or higher
- Be an active VATSIM member in good standing without significant disciplinary history
- Be personable and driven, exhibit professionalism
- Be willing and able to commit a minimum of 1-2 hours per week fulfilling necessary DATM duties
- Have the ability and willingness to collaborate with staff members within the ARTCC and the division
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills

An ideal applicant should:
- Possess leadership, supervisory, and/or managerial experience (not necessarily limited to VATSIM)
- Currently be an active member of the ZTL ARTCC in good standing
- Currently or recently have been a member of the ARTCC training staff and have strong familiarity with ZTL’s current training program and policies therein
- Have demonstrated through their behavior within the community a consistently professional, positive, mature, and agreeable demeanor

I am pleased to announce that Adam Veall has been selected as ZTL's new Events Coordinator! Adam has been an active member of ZTL for over a year now, progressing rapidly in his training, earning his C1, and becoming an integral member of our training staff. He also brings in outside experience with events management and training from virtual airlines, pilot organizations, and VATSIM's Pilot Training Department. Please join me in congratulating Adam and wishing him success in his new role!

I am pleased to announce that Eli Snowden has been selected as ZTL's new Deputy Air Traffic Manager! Eli will bring a wealth of experience from his long tenure as a controller and mentor in ZTL and his stint most recently as EC. He will continue to fulfill the Events Coordinator role until this new vacancy has been filled. Please join me in congratulating him on his promotion!

Eli has been a member of ZTL since 2018 and brings with him a strong resume of experience as a certified controller, member of VATUSA's ACE Team, and member of the ZTL training staff.
