Virtual Airlines / Air Regions Needs Qualified Candidates
« on: June 19, 2017, 01:22:27 AM »
Hello,

Air Regions is breaking ground on it's foundation. We are looking for qualified candidates to help with construction along the way. Air Regions hopes to be a powerful partner within the community, connecting well-educated, and knowledgeable aviators with virtual aviation organizations.

Think of us as a true regional airline, the first stop and major building block for virtual captains throughout the United States and potentially the world.  While many established virtual airlines do have a training academy, we want to extend a hand to those who don't or cannot devote the time to creating one. Our goal is whichever partnerships are agreed to, both virtual airlines mutually benefit through pilot development and retention.

Take a look.

Virtual Airlines / TexAir Continues to Grow and Needs Your Help!
« on: May 09, 2016, 10:19:20 PM »

If you're looking to venture off the beaten path, TexAir virtual has the versatility and excitement of a legacy carrier, but the culture of a start up.  Reviving itself from it's initial inception, TexAir has grown exponentially in a such a short time, that it has allowed us to reinvest and offer unique-user features the old TexAir could only dream about. Our integrated PIREP system allows the use of kACARS, CCF Tracker, FSAcars, FSPassengers, XAcars and now SmartCARS!

We touchdown daily over 6 continents, 7 if you charter with our JenaJet subsidiary. We are the only known airline headquartered in the unique 'keep it weird' city of Austin, Texas. We feature hubs  in Denver, Portland, Minneapolis, Washington DC and Tampa.

Our fleet is not to be forgotten, it's getting a renovation!

TexAir has begun a Fleet Modernization and Renovation plan to get all it's older models repainted & repackaged for it's pilots. We'll also receive delivery of brand new Boeing 737-900's and Embraer 170's.

With all the growth comes a higher and higher need for additional help.

We're hiring throughout our administration and operational levels of the airline, however there's a special need for a Brand Manager and several HUB Managers.

Brand Manager

Hub Manager
    Tampa, Washington DC and Minneapolis

Additionally we are accepting applications for the following:

Website Manager

Events Manager

Fleet Manager

General Discussion / Too high on approach!

If you were given a visual approach each time, it is up to you as the pilot to fly an approach down to the runway. If you are too high, then do what you need to do in order to get down as the controller just gets you low enough to see the airport (not necessarily low enough to fly an ILS approach exactly).

If they were ILS approaches, then it's another story. You should never be vectored to join the ILS above the glide slope.

True.  I second this- however I also agree with Erik.  I personally do just as he suggested and assign altitudes that allow for a standard approach descent.  I think Erik had multiple controllers vector him to a final for him to call the field and at that point he was so high that he had to dive bomb to make it.  I agree with Erik that sometimes controllers can look for the easy way to give an approach and in the process not set them up in a way that makes it not only easy on YOU the controller but also on the Pilot.

This was done to help those new to flying fly a rectangular pattern in a small Single Engined aircraft.

The YouTube description explains more.

Nicely done Dave.  Excellent teaching tool. Excellent commentary.

Shawn, spectacular idea.  I personally have never thought of that but looking now that would be a tremendous help to all Webmasters and FE's out there.  The saying still goes, 'someone always knows more than you' so why not use that to our advantage.

A+ in my book of opinions.
