General Discussion / Re: VATUSA9 VCR Private Message Response Issue
« on: November 18, 2017, 09:17:23 AM »
I got the same message yesterday evening (Friday) about 30 seconds before I disconnected. I didn't notice the message until about an hour later when I was about to reconnect. My guess would be that it is a "please contact me" message but Mani used the wrong alias? I was confused as well because a) I was flying using vPilot - not VRC and b) I was not in controlled airspace and on-line for less than an hour. A clarification would be appreciated and I will send Mani an email as well.

General Discussion / Re: Help me find qualified Instructors for VATSTAR...?

I dispute your claim that no one over the age of 21 would be interested in doing this.  I do have two college-age instructors on staff, but the median age is probably around 30 -- and I myself, our PR person, and my senior instructor are all in our early forties.

Thanks for the compliment Rob but actually I just turned 50!  ;D

General Discussion / Re: Pilot Trainig

Hi Scott,

There are a large number of ATOs that provide pilot training. You can view them all at https://ptd.vatsim.net. While the majority of them are affiliated with a particular ARTCC/FIR or Virtual Airline, some are independent. I am sure you will find one that fits your needs.

The Control Room Floor / Re: "I said cleared DIRECT to ___!"

Anything out of Honolulu (PHNL) would do just fine. The take-off instructions include an assigned turn to heading 150. Maybe 10-20 miles out we assign a "direct to" the first waypoint on the SID. You can for example have a look at the Molokai 4 DP, one of the most flown for aircraft to mainland US.

With a standard GPS, the pilot will immediately turn to northeast and try to intercept the straight line from PHNL to MKK VOR.  :-X

The Flight Deck / Vpilot windows issue
« on: January 26, 2015, 07:59:58 AM »
Quote from: David C. Freeman
Thomas,

I am in windowed mode.  I think the issue is that I have to switch back and fourth.  What I want is for both windows to run simultaneously.  When I type into VPilot, the FSX window minimizes to the task bar.  I can pull FSX back up, but when I click on it to get my sound back, Vpilot closes.  I don't remember this being an issue on SB.

What you described is not standard behaviour of vPilot/FSX. There must be something else in your setup causing this. Does this happen with any other software combination or just vPilot? Brad's suggestions may help. Also try the vPilot forums. These forums are fairly limited in audience... http://www1.metacraft.com/VRC/forums/viewforum.php?f=23

The Flight Deck / Vpilot windows issue
« on: January 25, 2015, 08:15:43 PM »
vPilot runs as a stand-alone program so you must have FSX running in Windowed mode in order to switch back and forth. As a side-node, the recommended way to run Squawkbox is also in stand-alone mode so you will have the same issue there. The only client that will run inside a full-screen FSX is FSInn.
