EastJet Virtual, the Chicago (MDW) based airline serving passengers with its new Boeing 757-200 aircraft has completed its first week of non-stop service to 3 new cities that aren't currently served by any airline in the Chicago area. Service to Panama City, San Juan, and St. Maarten started March 15th. "We have had a great reaction from our passengers on these new routes." EastJet Virtual CEO Shawn Fitts stated during a early morning teleconference with the media. EastJet also unveiled its first ever EastXpress First Class product on the new Boeing 757-200. "The addition of EastXpress has brought a new level of affordable luxury on flight segments longer then three hours. We are also testing a Portable Flight Entertainment system on our Chicago-Panama City routing. So far the feedback is very positive." Mr Fitts added. The Boeing 757-200 seats 180 passengers with flights up to 3,800 miles. With the addition of three 757 airframes, EastJet also operates 10 Boeing 737-700NG aircraft with seating for 137 passengers with flights as long as 3,000 miles.

EastJet announces partnership with vPrincess Cruises!

EastJet Virtual also announced a partnership with vPrincess Cruises to provide chartered flights to Anchorage, Alaska with its B737-700NG aircraft. This service will offer affordable air travel to and from vPrincess' port in Anchorage from cities served by EastJet Virtual through its Chicago hub. "We are excited to join vPrincess Cruises to provide stellar air travel service to a great cruise line and look forward to a very long relationship." Mr Fitts stated. These flights will only be available to vPrincess Cruises customers and will not be made available to the public.

EastJet still in talks with Armed Forces Air Mobility Command.

EastJet is still in talks with AFAMC about acquiring contract work for the military. "The AFAMC talks are moving along nicely with possible proving runs starting this summer. EastJet is mostly concerned about the freight revenue potential these contracts bring." a unnamed source stated from EastJet's Hebron, Ky headquarters. EastJet currently doesn't fly a aircraft capable of completing high density air freight flights. Chicago's Midway airport can't handle the weight of freight aircraft, all evidence EastJet would need to find a new base and aircraft for its freight operations.

After completing a short term lease with a Ex Delta Boeing 757-200 this month, EastJet Virtual has announced the addition of 3 Boeing 757's to its fleet of 10 Boeing 737-700NG aircraft based at Chicago Midway Airport (MDW). The short term lease was for testing of EastJet's normal operations and on-hand training for its staff.

The 3 Boeing 757-200 series aircraft are powered by 2 PW2037 engines and seating for 220 passengers with a range of 3,900 nautical miles. EastJet has not announced which destinations it will serve with the new airframes, however a EastJet 737 was spotted in Vancouver, BC and Panama City, Panama in the last 3 weeks.

EastJet Virtual representatives have also been in contact with the Armed Forces Air Mobility Command within the last month to apply for freight transportation rights, a sign EastJet is looking into transporting goods and personnel for the military. This process can take up to a year to complete and start service, with proving runs required before rights are given.

EastJet has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday. February 24th at 3PM at its headquarters in Hebron, KY.

Virtual Airlines / EastJet's flying high, starts smooth.

Chicago-EJ Times

Fighting the holiday traffic and pending winter weather, passengers of EastJet Flt702 boarded for non-stop service to Boston on December 23rd. After laying off 500 employees and closing its doors suddenly last February, EastJet Virtual is yet again in the skies. Flight 702 boarded on time and departed Chicago despite a pending winter storm that snarled most air traffic in the Chicago area during the Christmas holidays. "We were looking for a last minute deal after deciding to go to my families for the holidays. We had heard about EastJet coming back to Chicago and the prices were just right so we booked it. So far so good." passenger Jan Lawford said as she boarded the first commercial flight since EastJet's return with her two kids. "We have brought a good, hometown brand to Chicago. We are here to stay and transport this community into the next decade and beyond." CEO Shawn Fitts said as he addressed the crowd at Gate A3. EastJet managed to complete 92% of its flight the first week, a good average despite the massive amounts of snow that hit the Midwest and Plains last week.

Operating 5 Boeing 737-700 aircraft to cities on the East and West coast, EastJet Virtual offers nonstop service to Tampa, L.A., Boston, San Francisco, Cincinnati, and more. Priding itself in Southwest style turn around times and a positive, professional customer service staff, EastJet Virtual has recalled some 270 of its previous employees and seek to hire some 200 more in the coming months.

CEO Shawn Fitts held a conference call earlier today to give the media a update of EastJet's operations. Asked about new destinations, Mr. Fitts answered "Right now we are utilizing every seat and aircraft we can to fly the schedule we have in place. We are looking to exercise the 5 leasing options we have through our financier but that is still some weeks away. Our employees are pushing every minute they can to get our passengers off to their destination as fast as possible and we are using that to squeeze as much time as possible out of the on the ground time."

EastJet Virtual has some ways to go to continue its upwards swing. Fighting other carriers for a decline in passengers isn't east however. The cash on hand isn't known at this time but EastJet managed to turn a profit after just a few short months under Mr. Fitts' guidance. Starting with 5 planes, 270 employees, and a desire to do nothing but succeed, EastJet Virtual looks to be Chicago's new underdog airline of 2010.

I'm going to see what happened. I don't believe NOTAMs should be sent for this purpose so please accept my apologies for the email. If we did it for one, we'd have to do it for all. Not the road I'm willing to travel.

FYI, I didn't get it yet. I know they go out in batches, so would someone forward it to me?

Are you still in need of a copy Alex?

Brian,

Great work! Looks really good. I think our pulling away from the VATSIM forums makes us a little more independent.

I am still waiting on staff user rights if you could handle that please.
