OPEN POSITION POSTING
TRAINING ADMINISTRATOR
SEATTLE ARTCC

The Seattle ARTCC (vZSE) is currently seeking a Training Administrator who will provide compelling training capability and effective management and leadership of the vZSE Air Traffic Training function.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Reports jointly to the Seattle Air Traffic Manager and the VATUSA Training Director
  • Manage and lead the training program to make it effective and efficient for all ARTCC controllers
  • Maintains an adequate staff of instructors and mentors to meet ARTCC training needs
  • Update and maintain training website material and certification system
  • Maintain a high online presence
  • Performs duties of a staff Instructor
  • Develops and implements training policies and procedures
  • Functions as an ARTCC staff member and attends periodic meetings as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by ATM

Required Skills:
  • Active member of the network in good standing with a clean history
  • Rating of Controller (C1) or higher for at least 90 days
  • Capable of working well in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong knowledge of the United States and VATSIM ATC system
  • Strong knowledge of FAA Order 7110.65
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

Desired Skills:
  • Currently serving (preferred), or previously served, as an Instructor within VATUSA
  • Teaching/Education experience (on or off VATSIM)
  • Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience
  • Prior TA experience
  • Real-world aviation experience
  • Familiarity with the Seattle ARTCC training program/system

Interested candidates should be aware that this is not an entry-level position and not for the inexperienced. The workload is considerable and should not be taken lightly. Only those who understand the requirements and can make the appropriate commitment should consider applying. Candidates can expect an initial evaluation of their application after which they MAY be contacted for a comprehensive interview.

Please join me in welcoming Eric Steiner as the next Deputy Air Traffic Manager at Seattle! Eric has made significant contributions to Seattle in our events and training departments. He has shown great commitment to the ARTCC through his hard work and I'm looking forward to working with him to keep ZSE successful into the future.

Please join me in welcoming Jon Owens as the next Training Administrator at Seattle! Jon has made significant contributions to Seattle in both the web and training departments. He has done solid work as an Instructor and I know he will do great things with our training department. Congratulations, Jon!

I also want to give a big thanks to Randy Lahey for his work as the previous TA!

First off I want to give a sincere thanks to my previous DATM, Skylar Hutter! As DATM at ZSE he was instrumental in bringing about much-needed changes, and without his help ZSE couldn't have grown to be what it is today.

It's now my pleasure to congratulate Sean O'Brien as the new DATM. Sean comes to us from ZAB where he has been working on the Events team, with previous experience at PCF as mentor and EC as well as leading teams and developing training outside of VATSIM. Please join me in congratulating Sean on this new role, I look forward to working with him to continue making ZSE even better!
