News / ZME Has a New ATM!
« on: December 15, 2025, 12:22:58 AM »
Please join me in congratulating the new ATM for ZME, Chris Fronczek! Chris has served as a training staff member in multiple ARTCCs across the division previously, and most recently served as the ZME DATM. During his time as ZME DATM, Chris enjoyed interacting with the community directly and encouraging members to get involved in entertaining and educational opportunities throughout the subdivision, such as the social media team, events team, and more! Chris has a strong passion for volunteerism and looks to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to grow while in ZME. With plans to further support controller training and continue building new traditions in ZME, I am confident that Memphis is in good hands under Chris' leadership. Congratulations, Chris!

I'd also like to thank the outgoing ZME ATM, Dylan Lundberg. Dylan has been a prominent member across the division for MANY years (some may say too long, but not me). Within a 14 year period, Dylan served in every ARTCC staff position except FE, was an ATM three times, TA twice, EC twice, and served as a VATUSA Region Air Traffic Director. He has volunteered as a training staff member in subdivisions from coast to coast, and continues to do that on top of his duties as a VATSIM Supervisor. His contributions are truly immeasurable, but I can confidently say they made our division and the network a better place for all. Dylan is embarking on the exciting new adventure to become a real-world air traffic controller, a dream that grew from his time on VATSIM. Dylan, we are so proud of you and wish you all the best as you chase your dream! Thank you for the leadership and inspiration you demonstrated throughout your years of service to the network. We will miss having you on staff, but know you will be successful in your next chapter.

News / ZLC and ZDV Have New ATMs!!
« on: October 16, 2025, 10:34:01 AM »
Over two years ago, we began discussions on merging the ZDV and ZLC staff teams to form one combined staff to serve both facilities. While variations of this have been done throughout our division's history, we have never quite done it like this. After years of hard work, dedication from the facilities' members, and exemplary leadership from the combined senior staff, I am excited to announce that we have completed the experiment and are fully separating the ZDV and ZLC staff teams with the appointment of two new ATMs!

Please join me in welcoming Cameron Negrete as the new ZLC ATM! Cameron has been a long-time member of VATSIM and has served as an Instructor, ZLC DATM, ZLC FE, and ZMP TA! Cameron looks to build on the current facility momentum and continue improving documentation, assisting students work their way up the controller ratings, further strengthen neighboring facility relationships, and develop an exciting events program for all who fly or control to enjoy! I am confident that ZLC will continue to grow under Cameron's leadership, and I hope all who are interested take part in the new and exciting ideas Cameron will bring to his new role. Congratulations, Cameron!

Please also join me in congratulating the new ATM for the Denver ARTCC, Evan McSweeny! Evan has been influential in the recent success of both ZDV and ZLC, serving as the combined DATM for two years! Evan is committed to ensuring the Denver community is active, vibrant, and fun for all in the facility. With plans to further update facility resources, provide members with opportunities to volunteer around the facility, and continue working with the events and training teams to continue innovating, the Denver ARTCC is destined for great things under Evan's leadership. Congratulations, Evan!

Finally, I'd like to thank the outgoing ZLC/ZDV ATM, Harry Linsenmayer. If you have been on the network long enough, chances are you know who Harry is and have interacted with him in some way. Harry has served in almost every facility staff position during his time in ZJX, HCF, ZLC, and ZDV. Harry's commitment to our organization and members was unwavering, and the impact he has had on both is grand. Harry is stepping back to continue developing his real-world aviation career, and we wish him nothing but the best. Thank you, Harry, for all you have done for the division!

News / ZTL Has a New ATM!
« on: September 15, 2025, 10:13:26 PM »
Please join me in congratulating Zachary Williams as the next ATM for the Atlanta ARTCC! Zach has been an active member in ZTL for many years and currently serves as an Instructor and VATSIM Supervisor. Zach is excited to lead the talented and dedicated ZTL staff team as they embark on a mission to build upon the solid foundation that ZTL currently has. As part of his initial plans, Zach aims to support and further strengthen the Atlanta ARTCC community, strengthen relationships with neighboring facilities, and continue to empower volunteer staff members to innovate and improve the member experience. Congratulations, Zach!

I also invite you to congratulate and thank Paul Semeran, the outgoing ZTL ATM, for his years of commitment to his roles and the overall dedication he has provided as a long-tenured staff member on the network. Paul has always been one to answer the bell and help out wherever he believes he can make an impact, and you don't have to look far to see that he has. Paul has upheld the vision and goals of both the division and network well, and we wish him all the best as he takes on the next chapter of his aviation career. Thank you, Paul!

News / ZAN Automatic Visiting Announcement
« on: September 07, 2025, 05:23:48 PM »
We are proud to offer both our pilot and controller members memorable experiences across our 22 subdivisions. Each subdivision has its own culture, unique qualities, and challenges. In this letter, we are announcing a new opportunity for all our controlling members in the division who meet the applicable requirements.

Anchorage ARTCC is home to the beautiful Alaskan wilderness, unforgiving terrain, and unique airports. With plenty of challenging IFR and VFR procedures throughout the massive airspace, pilots and controllers will never be bored and never run out of new experiences to seek! While this facility has historically not been a popular one for controllers and staff to select as their home controlling facility, it would be a shame to let such a fantastic subdivision remain underutilized. That is why, effective today, any VATUSA home controller rated S3 or above shall be granted inherent visiting controller privileges in the Anchorage subdivision with no activity requirement. To exercise these privileges, you must be in good standing and fully active on a VATUSA subdivision’s home roster. You will not need to be listed on the ZAN visiting roster, unless you are seeking a Tier 2 endorsement. These details can be found in Section 2 of the ZAN ARTCC Administrative Manual.

We hope that many of you will take advantage of this amazing opportunity to spread your wings and try something new on the network. This is a unique opportunity for our controllers to get together as an entire division and interact outside of the typical subdivision boundaries. Our pilots love it when we staff ZAN facilities and would certainly appreciate more controllers logging on and enjoying a fun session together! We will also seek to host events in ZAN in the future, allowing our members to get together and display the cumulative power of the division! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Brandon Wening, VATUSA2, via vatusa2@vatusa.net.
