USA Division Updates / From the Desk of VATUSA1
« on: September 13, 2020, 09:13:52 am »
It's been a very busy first week!  I wanted to give everyone a quick update on ZHQ activities.

  • TMU
TMU team has been test piloting program.  Proposed policies have been submitted to ZHQ for review.  Still hopeful that we can officially go live this month.  May be a little bit of slippage -- there's always some back and forth during policy reviews.  Everyone wants to make sure we roll it out right the first time rather than rush through the process to commit to an arbitrary date.

  • C3 Program
ZHQ received 40 nominations!  The slate is in front of the C3 Review Board.  I hope we can announce the first C3 Awardees by end of month.

  • Open Positions
I am excited about the amount of applications I have received thus far.  This is going to be the deepest application pool I've seen in some time.  Deadline for applications is September 22.  If you feel you qualify and you can commit to the time necessary to do a good job, I encourage you to apply.

  • Meetings
I am in the process of scheduling ZHQ's first staff meeting.  Going forward, I plan to publish meeting minutes so everyone is in the loop on what we are discussing.  I also plan to have regularly scheduled Town Halls.  Some may be per Region.
[/list]

Hoping that everyone is staying safe and healthy!

Mani

NOTAMs / VATUSA Town Hall August 16 1800-2000 ET
« on: August 14, 2020, 07:51:45 am »
Dear Team VATUSA,

I’m honored and humbled to be your Acting VATUSA Division Director until a replacement is made.  VATUSA has entered the most exciting time in our history.  Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is about to launch, we’ve had increases in both pilots and controllers due to the pandemic, and we have an extremely dedicated membership who wants to improve this Division.

As a leader, you can expect me to listen, think, then react.  You can count on me to hear your concerns, figure out a plan to solve them, then ensure a solution is enacted.  I’m always open to constructive criticism and working with you for the betterment of our organization.

My first action as your new Acting Division Director will be to listen.  You are invited to a Town Hall on Sunday, 8/16 from 6pm-8pm ET. The Town Hall will be hosted on the VATUSA Discord Server https://discord.gg/a7Qcse7.  I’ll be there to listen, answer your questions, and address your concerns until a replacement is found.

Our organization will only grow when we work together.  We need respect, thoughtfulness, and teamwork from every member to transform VATUSA for this new age of flight simulation.  My only ask to you is this: when you log off, leave our Division better than we found it.

I look forward to chatting with you at the Town Hall on Sunday!

News / Change in ZBW Leadership
« on: November 10, 2018, 11:24:58 am »
Ian Fisher has resigned from the ZBW ARTCC role due to real world commitments.  Please join me in welcoming Clif Whitten as ZBW's new ATM.  Clif has been a ZBW member since 2008.  Clif was ZBW's EC for two years, and he has been ZBW's DATM since April 2017. Clif served as interim ATM during the Summer of 2018 prior to Ian being hired.  His temperament and performance while interim ATM, the length of time the position was open prior to Ian's hire, plus the short amount of time Ian was in the role were contributing factors in appointing Clif into this role.  I'm confident Clif can lend stability to ZBW, and his plans are consistent with what Ian was planning for the facility.

I hope that the VATUSA community will thank Clif for stepping up to the challenge and welcome him into the ZBW ATM role.  Congratulations Clif!
