In May 1886, Dr. John Pemberton brought his perfected soda to Jacobs' Pharmacy in downtown Atlanta and shared the first Coca Cola with a group of 9 people. Since then, he shared about nine drinks per day in the first year of founding the Coca-Cola company. Share a Coke with ZTL, as we celebrate the 138th anniversary of not-Pepsi!

Position Posting: Salt Lake City ARTCC Events Coordinator

Purpose:
The Salt Lake City ARTCC is looking for a motivated individual who possesses a high degree of energy and commitment to serve as the Events Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:
- Reports to and serves at the pleasure of the ATM and DATM.
- Maintains an online presence within the facility and on the VATSIM network.
- Manages a team of highly qualified individuals as part of the Events Team.
- Functions as an ARTCC junior staff member and attends meetings as necessary.
- Identifies and develops events to generate traffic and promote the ARTCCs.
- Develops and distributes marketing materials to promote ARTCC events.
- Implements and oversees approved events.
- Acts as CIC or TMU during ARTCC events when able, or designates a replacement on their behalf.
- Coordinates with neighboring ARTCCs to arrange support for local events.
- Coordinates with neighboring ARTCCs to provide vZLC support.
- Maintains relationships with VAs and coordinates support for VA events.

Requirements:
- Must hold at least an Aerodrome Controller (S2) rating (S3/C1 rating is preferred).
- Must be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and manage a team.

Preferred Skills:
- Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience (real world or VATSIM applicable).
- Familiarity with Salt Lake City ARTCC policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate the qualities of understanding, patience, restraint, and professionalism.
- Have previous experience working with an event team.

- Résumé, including any applicable real-world/VATSIM experience
- Letter of intent explaining “Why Salt Lake and why this position is for you”
- Create an event – include in this event the featured fields, marketing strategy, how you would motivate controllers to sign up, banner, which neighboring facilities are needed for support, etc. Show us what you have.
- Your goals and vision for Salt Lake City ARTCC events.

Applications must be received by 2359z on February 25, 2024. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered and will be discarded.

In the classic 1989 film Field of Dreams, Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) is inspired by a vision to build a baseball field in his cornfield and summons the spirits of baseball legends of eras past. The real life Field of Dreams is located just outside Dubuque, Iowa and it happens to be located in ZAU airspace. With that same faith, the controllers of ZAU and ZMP will staff up fields across Iowa, and we hope to summon pilots to come fly in!
