Boston Tea Party 2015
« on: May 18, 2015, 04:40:03 PM »

The 16th Annual Boston Tea Party is coming! On Saturday, August 8th, Boston's finest controllers will gather on the campus of Daniel Webster College in Nashua, NH for the 16th consecutive year as we present our own Boston Tea Party! ZBW airspace will be fully staffed for our premier event and we will have some fantastic prizes lined up as well. Not only will Boston Logan staffed to the hilt, but we also plan to staff many of our smaller airports, such as Hartford-Bradley, Providence, Albany, and the variety of airports on the Cape. All airports in the ZBW airspace will have at least center coverage. During Tea Party, you'll be able to share the fun with many pilots. Last year, virtual Boston had more traffic than real Boston did during the same timespan, and numbers were comparable at Bradley International. Where ever you choose to fly during Tea Party rest assured you will not be alone.

This year, the Virtual Boston ARTCC will be utilizing a webpage dedicated to the Tea Party event. This webpage will contain airport information/charts, FAQs, pilot feedback, and last but not least, bookings.

If you are interested in participating in airport poker (our pilot contest), you are required to book a flight via the Tea Party webpage, as this is how we will be keeping track of pilots progression in the contest. To give you a sneak peak, some of the prizes that will be given out to the winners of our poker contest include licenses to Flysimware Simulation Studios, Carenado, Hifi, Orbx, and more.

More information regarding the poker contest, bookings, and more will be available when we release the webpage.

The webpage will be released on June 8th. Once released, bookings will immediately open.

On July 8th, a manual bookings option will be released enabling pilots to create their own routes (departure and arrival airport combinations).

Be sure to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and keep up to date with this forum thread as well as our website for information, updates, news, and more.

BOSTON TEA PARTY 2015 - PILOT FLIGHT INFORMATION

Due to the new Tea Party website this year (teaparty.bostonartcc.net), all poker qualifying flights will be tracked automatically, thus there will not be a BOS_PK_CTR position this year.

In order to ensure your flight both qualifies for poker and is fully tracked, please refer to the following checklist:

1) Book a flight, either pre-made or a custom booking --- you can do this at teaparty.bostonartcc.net. This is required for you to qualify, along with all the other poker rules listed there.

2) Sign into VATSIM via your flight simulator. If possible, use the callsign on your booking.

3) Include your Tea Party ID (the code that looks like TP-??) in your flight plan remarks --- we'll be sending you a pre-file link two hours before your departure time that will include this already. Including this in your flight plan remarks will ensure that if something goes wrong, your flight will still be tracked. If your callsign is already taken, this is the only way we can track your flight automatically.

4) Check your hand to make sure all is well before you disconnect --- you'll be sent a link with each flight to both manage your hand, and also a link that will show the status of your flight. Once your flight says "landed", a card will be queued to be sent to you. If there are 5 cards in your hand, the card will wait in the queue before you discard a card.

5) If something goes wrong, email the Events Coordinator at events@bostonartcc.net or message him on the network at CAPE_APP .

Thank you from the controllers and staff at the Boston Virtual ARTCC

The controllers and staff from the Boston Virtual ARTCC would like to thank all participants of the Boston Tea Party 2015 event. Whether you flew, controlled an adjacent sector, etc, we can't thank you enough! Participation is the key, and without you this event wouldn't have been what it was. We apologize for any inconveniences you may have experienced with the poker system, as our system was hacked and taken down. The controllers had a fantastic time and are looking forward to next year. Poker winners will be contacted personally and announced at a later date.

Thank you again,

Camden Bruno

The controllers and staff of the Boston Virtual ARTCC would like to congratulate the Top 5 Winners of the Poker Contest during Boston Tea Party 2015. The Top 5 are:

Kyle Weber (839039)
Lance Williams (841959)
Mitch Kutun (1318378)
Malik Brown (1294564)
Richard Stratman (1128065)

Please join us in congratulating them. Again, from the controllers and staff at the Boston Virtual ARTCC, we'd like to thank you for your participation at this years event. Without pilots like you, our events would surely not be as successful and we wouldn't be able to continue this event for a 17th consecutive year. We look forward to seeing you all next year!

Regards,
