Is it possible to post all of the job openings for all of the ARTCCs in one location, and when you click that link, it shows you all open "Jobs", as well as their end date, responsibilities, etc.

Basically (in geek speak) create a new category for any "wanted' post, and create a link to show only that category, and when the job entry date closes, the job would disappear from the page.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom I will add this topic to the staff forums.  I like the idea we'll see if it gets some attention.

My first question is why?

I don't mean that in a bad way - I just don't understand what the value is in having something like that. How would a typical member benefit from having this feature? Under what scenarios would it be used?

It shows people places where they may be able to get involved.  For example ZID is currently looking for a Webmaster and after about 2 weeks I have had not a single inquiry.  Not saying that I don't want my webmaster to be involved in controlling, but if a pilot sees the classified and applied we may get a great controller out of him, and if not we allowed someone to give back to the network when they wouldn't normally be given the opportunity.

Or, we could change the description of the NEWS forum to read. "Vatusa NEWS, Help Wanted and this weeks Events"

Ric has a valid solution, but if I remember correctly didn't the old website have a help wanted section?

I think Ric's solution would work if people read these forums. As it stands though, there are 632 total people registered on these forums, and I imagine a large percentage of those don't read them regularly. From looking on the bottom to see who is visiting the forums at any given time, it seems that most of the participants/readers on these forums are those required to participate because they already hold staff jobs. That's also the group that least needs the classifieds section.

I imagine vatusa.net gets substantially more traffic, and having a real help wanted section there might get more exposure for open jobs.

Hey guys,

The job postings are typically announced in the News forum, and the titles are posted on the home page.  On the forthcoming site, this has been kept in place and expanded to the last 12 news items. Having kept an eye on these forums for the last couple of months, the average number of postings that are active in that forum is 7-10 at any given time, meaning that  typically all of these are already shown on the home page.

The only 2 things that are regularly posted on the News forum are jobs and events.

Mike's observation on this subject is pretty accurate.  My suggestion if the goal is to increase exposure of job postings, put them in the VASTIM forums to reach a broader audience.

I am not averse to adding features, but I am a little cautious about this as I am not sure it would have the intended effect.

Thanks
