Question for the VATUSA web-team...
VATSIM CoC A4(b) states the following:
A4(b) Account holders shall connect to VATSIM using only one of the following name conventions:
(1) Their real, registered name (e.g., Joseph Smith, Joseph S.).
(2) An appropriate shortening of their given name, followed by their surname (e.g., Joe Smith, Joe S.).
(3) Their real given name. (e.g., Joseph).
(4) An appropriate shortening of their given name (e.g., Joe).
(5) Their certificate ID number.
The official VATSIM forums allow profiles to follow the CoC's naming conventions but the VATUSA forums do not allow any alternative conventions provided by the CoC A4(b). If there is, I've not been able to locate a way. I do understand that CoC A4(b) was created in response to International Privacy Laws and may not be required for the United States, however, that functionality allows another layer of online obscurity for parents of minors who utilize VATSIM, Content Creators and the general user-base that would like to have the option.
Are there plans to change the VATUSA forums and site to align with CoC A4(b)?
Would these plans also include a trickle down to the VATUSA Facilities for guidance on their respective websites and other communication channels (Discord, Teamspeak, etc)?
