On Saturday, April 9th, join the Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control Center as we present
Thunder In The Desert. We will be featuring our major Air Force bases, including the Albuquerque International Airport [Kirtland Air Force Base, KABQ], Luke Air Force Base [KLUF], Cannon Air Force Base [KCVS], Davis-Monthan Air Force Base [KDMA], and Holloman Air Force Base [White Sands, KHMN]. Bring your fighters, your bombers, your helicopters, and your tankers. Come fly a screaming overhead maneuver, depart on an unrestricted climb at full afterburner, fly a TACAN approach, a HI-ILS, request activation of an MOA, participate in live fire exercises in one of our many Restricted Areas, accept MARSA and participate in aerial re-fueling on an active AR Track.
It is important to note that while anyone may fly military aircraft, per VATSIM Policy [VAA & VSO PPM 05/2015 Section 1.7] only members of an approved VSOA will be allowed to participate in special operations. Pilots flying military or special operations aircraft while not a member of an approved VSOA will be restricted to Civil Procedures. Civilian general aviation and commercial carrier traffic always welcome!
Our controllers will be available from 2100z-0100z [1400P, 1500M, 1600C, 1700E].
