Frequently Asked Questions (VATUSA Training Dept)

Members,

As the recently selected VATUSA Training Services Administrator, one of my tasks will be to update the VATUSA Training Material. As I sit and check my e-mail every night, I often receive many questions from our members (Which is great! Keep them coming!) which are similar in nature. So one of the items of the new "Training Resource Center" will be a Frequently Asked Question section.

So here is my question to you. What are some of the questions that you have had when you first joined VATUSA and/or questions that you've seen other members have?

I appreciate any input that you can give.

One of the things I remember trying to figure out in the beginning was which radar client to use. When I was first wanting to get into ATC I went and got both clients (VRC,ASRC) and tried to pick my way through things. I don't really remember all the little things I went through to figure out that VRC was easier (couple years ago now), but I think a little quick blurb like "VRC is the more common client and it is more simple to use than ASRC" would help out with that.

Thats the first little thing that pops into my mind. From what I can think of most of the questions I had would be in the actual controlling side of things, and those questions would be directed to an ARTCC TA/Instructor etc. Not sure if this is what you are looking for! Just a cent or two =)

Hi, I am new... And am waiting for my slew of emails... Want to know my big question?

How do I get the radar to work so I can observe?

I've been reading everything I can get my fingers on to learn, but I would love some live examples of what I've read so far...

Hey Red,

There are two choices in radar clients. Most training departments usually recommend VRC. It's a newer product and has more features than ASRC. Check it out at www.metacraft.com/vrc.
