Thank You Bruce Clingan
« on: November 06, 2011, 12:54:53 AM »
I would like to send out a special Thank You to Bruce Clingan as he steps down as ZID ATM. Bruce leaves the ZID ATM position as the 2nd longest current running ATM in all of VATUSA. He has been a mentor and an inspiration to many VATSIM members including myself. The way Bruce handled himself at all times should be a lesson to everyone on the network. It was not often to see Bruce comment on many topics during meetings or on the forums, but when he did anyone who know him would listen well as he would always reply with an intelligent well thought out opinion which rarely could be debated against.  Under Bruce’s command ZID was one of the most stable facilities within VATUSA. ZID is neither the busiest nor the most active but stability has proven to be one of the most important factors for a facility on the network.

For those of you who may not know Bruce personally he is growing into a successful salesman and college instructor. He has a great family with a very enjoyable three year old.  All of this and Bruce was still able to make time for his hobby and help guide the members at vZID. He definitely has a bright future to look forward to.

Bruce I applaud you for your efforts over the years at vZID, and I thank you for being a great mentor to myself not only on how to handle myself on the network but also in life.  I am proud to say that I participated on the network under Bruce Clingan. It will be a strange feeling not seeing your name atop the vZID staff page or the VATUSA membership management, but I know you will still always be there to answer my late night phone calls when I need someone to bounce ideas off of and play my devil’s advocate and bring me back to reality. I thank you for your continued friendship in the past and yet to come in the future. You have set the bar high my friend and someone certainly will have big shoes to fill.

Thanks for you time and friendship,

William Lewis

Although I could certainly make a long and boring post like William, I think a simple "thanks" will suffice from me

Couldn't say it any better than William.  Bruce, you've been a quintessential gentleman as an ATM, and certainly a role model.  Don't be a stranger, and congrats on your retirement from the ATM role.  Hear, hear for better and brighter things to come for Bruce!  Cheers!

Thanks everyone for all the good wishes, but it appears many of you were rather persuasive in your individual messages to me.  I am going to stay aboard for a little bit longer.

Good move -- it is rather hard to do what you need to do with 2 broken arms and 2 broken legs, eh?

Grr!

All these resignations and withdrawals are going to give me a heart attack....

Oh, by the way, great to see you have reconsidered Bruce! Excellent to see you sticking around some more!

Cheers!
Rahul
