ZKC is starting a new event series called "Collegiate Aviation Series". ZKC airspace contains several collegiate aviation programs and we want to feature them in the form of events. We will be featuring 2 schools a month. The main focus of these events are to promote general aviation traffic within VATUSA. We would encourage you to fly your favorite general aviation aircraft. Whether it is practice approaches, VFR/IFR cross country flights, or pattern work, we got you covered!
This week we are featuring St. Louis University - Parks College. This program is based out of St. Louis Downtown Airport (KCPS). The flight program at SLU uses the Diamond DA-20, Piper Arrow, Piper Seminole, and Cirrus SR-20. The flight program uses the callsign "Billiken" and files flight plans with the prefix "BKN" (ex: BKN24). You can expect services from Downtown Tower, St. Louis Approach, and Kansas City Center. Some good cross country destinations are KMDH, KSPI, KIJX, KCOU, KUUV, KFAM, and KCGI.
