Hello all my name is Dean Frazier and I am brand new to VATSIM/VATUSA and I currently took the ATC S1 exam and passed.  I did receive the email saying that a copy of the email was sent to the training staff but was wondering when I would receive any word/notification concerning the actual training?  Thank you in advance and I am eagerly looking forward to beginning my training.

Hi Dean,

From experience it can take 2-3 days for the ARTCC to do everything they need to do before sending you an email saying you’ve been accepted and added to the roster.

The short answer... it’s just a waiting game

First welcome to VATUSA! I saw that you have passed your basic ATC exam assigned by the division but you have not yet chosen an ARTCC to join. Under the My Profile dropdown on VATUSA’s website there should be a link that says join a facility. Feel free to reach out to any ARTCCs you may be interested in joining to get a better feel if it will be a good fit for you. Look forward to seeing you on the scopes soon!

New to vatusa and recently did the s1 exam as non observer. Having passed the exam I requested to be assigned to zbw. My status update has been changed to observer although im still assigned to ZAE. The option to join a region is also unavailable because the requirement to take the exam is red crossed instead of being ticked. Apart from the status of the exam results I havent had any further information about the process.

Anyone able to assist?

Hi Daniel, and welcome back. 

The issue is that you took the exam before you rejoined VATUSA.  Technically, at least according to our web system logic, that means it didn't count.  If I were just joking around, I'd say that it was a good practice run before you took the one that counted. 

I'm a little perplexed about your assertion that you requested a facility assignment.  You were not eligible to, as evidenced by the red x's that you saw.  And your record doesn't show that you requested a facility assignment (which it shouldn't!).

In any case, I waved my magic wand and waived the exam requirement so you don't have to take it again.  Payment for that is a 1L (or larger) bottle of Jack Daniels, or a roll of "nice, soft, not that substandard stuff you find in public venues 'cause they're cheap) toilet paper. 

Now all you need to do is go request the facility assignment.

I selected a region under the profile tab where you need to state your reason for the join/transfer. Clearly this was not the same thing.
Hope you come well outta this corona issue.
Got some soft ones here but no jack...!
