Position Posting - ZFW Training Administrator
Purpose
The Fort Worth ARTCC (ZFW) is seeking a motivated individual to fulfill the role of Training Administrator (TA) to develop and maintain the ZFW training department.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees and develops the ZFW training program.
- Reports to the ZFW Air Traffic Manager (ATM) and VATUSA Training Director (VATUSA3).
- Hires effective Instructors (I1) and Mentors as needed for ZFW requirements.
- Develops scenario files using Situation Editor for usage in Tower Trainer.
- Administers Over-the-Shoulder (OTS) Examinations on Sweatbox or the live VATSIM network.
- Maintains controller quality by adhereing to local standards and VATSIM GRP.
- Develops ZFW training policies and procedures.
- Trains ARTCC Mentors in effective teaching methods.
- Other duties as assigned by the ZFW ATM or VATUSA3.
Requirements
- Hold at least a C1 rating for at least 90 days.
- Have previous training experience as an Instructor or Mentor on the network
- Have no history of disciplinary or unprofessional conduct in the last 12 months.
- Be capable of managing a team of Mentors and working well in a team-oriented environment.
- Have a strong knowledge of the United States Airspace and Air Traffic Control systems.
- Must be familiar with the FAA JO 7110.65
- Understanding of all VATUSA/VATSIM policies as they apply to training and the granting of ratings.
- Have exceptional written and oral communication skills, including "bedside manner."
- Ability to create professional documents using Word or similar software.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Supervisory, training, or management experience in the virtual or real world.
- Previous or current ARTCC Senior Staff experience.
- Instructor experience within VATSIM.
- A natural drive to help others.
Interested candidates should be aware that this is not an entry-level position and will require a significant time investment. The successful Training Administrator must be able to maintain an active presence in the ARTCC, handle difficult situations, and lead by example for the training staff.
