Deputy Air Traffic Manager

Duties
The DATM reports to the Air Traffic Manager and assists in the management of the ARTCC. The DATM functions as a senior ARTCC staff member and is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the ARTCC.
•   Attends periodic meetings, as necessary.
•   Maintains an active online presence within the ZJX ARTCC and on the VATSIM network.
•   Supervises assigned personnel providing guidance, coaching, and training where applicable.
•   Assists in roster management by processing leave requests and verifying controller currency.
•   Helps draft changes to agreements, procedures, and policy.
•   Helps direct staffing assignments and restrictions. 
•   Frequently checks and responds to emails and contacts in a timely manner.
•   Assumes role of representative for the ZJX ARTCC and ATM when assigned, acts accordingly.
•   Assumes the duties of ATM during periods of leave or absence.

Requirements
The successful candidate must:
•   Be a member in good standing
•   Be a member of the ZJX ARTCC, or willing to transfer upon selection
•   Hold a VATSIM Enroute Controller (C1) rating or higher
•   Maintain active status by logging the minimum number of hours in accordance with ARTCC policy
•   Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
•   Be able to work well in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Skills & Abilities
The successful candidate should:
•   Possess and utilize a high degree of energy & commitment appropriate for this position.
•   Understand this position requires a HIGH time commitment.
•   Demonstrate qualities of understanding, patience, and maturity.
Priority is given to candidates who:
•   Possess experience and certification within the ZJX ARTCC
•   Have previous ARTCC (or higher) staff experience.
•   Have instructor or mentor experience on the network.
•   Have real-world managerial or supervisory experience.

Interested candidates should be aware that this is not an entry-level position and not for the inexperienced. The workload is considerable and should not be taken lightly. Hi Doug:

I'll start by reminding you that these forums should not be used as the primary method of communication with ZJX or its staff.  While we do actively monitor them, you're likely to see a delay in response compared to messages sent to us on Discord or emailed to us.  We encourage you to make use of our resources, rather than relying on the forums.

You will not receive an email after your CBTs have been completed, but you are on the right track otherwise; the training staff member you meet with for your first session will provide you with a few additional resources and will answer any questions you still have, but there's nothing additional you must do before that session.  If you're looking for things to do to help you get better prepared, we're happy to provide some materials before the session - just let one of our staff know and we'll get that to you.

Since you asked; you need not complete the CBTs for becoming an instructor (though you should feel free to if you're interested ).
