Chicago ARTCC Training Administrator Vacancy Announcement
Position: Training Administrator
Location: Chicago ARTCC (ZAU)
Time Commitment: 4 to 8 hours per week+, and required monthly controller hours to maintain facility membership
Supervisor: Chicago ARTCC Air Traffic Manager
Application Deadline: Open until filled.
Main Responsibilities:
Maintaining an online presence within the facility and on the VATSIM network.
Attending staff meetings.
Organizing and attending training staff meetings.
Developing, maintaining, updating and managing the training program and related materials.
Duties defined in the vZAU 3120.4.
Developing, updating and maintaining sweatbox files.
Completing special projects as assigned by the ATM.
All other responsibilities which help to accomplish the mission, goals and vision of ZAU.
Requirements:
Hold a Controller 1 (C1) or above.
Have no significant disciplinary record.
Have no history of unprofessional behavior.
Be an active member of the network in good standing on the VATSIM network.
Have a strong knowledge of the United States ATC system, VATSIM ATC system, and FAA JO 7110.65.
Hold no other staff position on any competing networks.
Be a ZAU home controller at the time of appointment (or willing to transfer upon selection).
Preferred Qualifications:
Instructor 1 (I1) Rating.
Familiarity with the Chicago ARTCC.
Understanding of the ZAU training program.
Prior staff experience.
Prior teaching/education experience.
Interested candidates should understand the requirements of the position and the time commitment aspect associated with the undertaking of a senior staff role within the facility. All qualified candidates can expect an initial evaluation of their application after which they MAY be contacted for a comprehensive interview.

A detailed VATSIM/relevant real-world résumé, cover letter and a mock training program for a home controller to progress through the C1 rating.
The letter of application should summarize the applicant's reasons for wanting to help lead the ZAU ARTCC, compelling evidence to show how the position requirements are met, and how the facility will thrive under the applicant's leadership.
Your virtual resume should consist of all prior VATSIM experience and any real-world experience you feel is applicable. Please also include your name, active email address, CID, current ARTCC, and current rating.
The mock training C1 program should include the competencies that should be covered, the types of sessions (classroom/sweatbox/live monitoring) and a clear roadmap including mock OTS and potentially sector specific training to work on certain skills (departure rush, sequencing, holding...etc).
