Position Posting: Salt Lake City ARTCC Mentor

Purpose:
The Salt Lake City ARTCC is looking for motivated individuals that possesses a high degree of energy and commitment to serve as Mentors on the Training Staff.

Key Responsibilities:
- Reports to and serves at the pleasure of the TA.
- Maintains an online presence within the facility and on the VATSIM network.
- Trains/mentors students.
- Completes training evaluations on each training session conducted.
- Recommends students for OTS examinations to instructors.
- Functions as an ARTCC training staff member and attends meetings as necessary.

Requirements:
- Must hold at least an Aerodrome Controller (S2) rating for a minimum of 60 days.
- Must be an active member of the VATSIM network in good standing.
- Must be willing and able to dedicate time to the training department and its students.
- Must have a strong knowledge of the 7110.65, United States National Airspace System, and Air Traffic Control systems.

Preferred Skills:
- Any real-world and/or VATSIM teaching experience.
- Familiarity with Salt Lake City ARTCC policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate the qualities of understanding, patience, restraint, and professionalism.

Please join me in welcoming ZLC's newest TA, Daniel Kormendy! Daniel has been apart of the ZLC training staff on and off for just over a year, and has been an instructor for nearly 6 months. Daniel has also been a key member of the ZLC community for over 3 years. Thank you Daniel for stepping up, and welcome to the senior staff!

I'd also like to give a huge thanks to Mike Bencivenga for his time and commitment to the TA role over the last year. Mike served as TA for not just ZLC, but simultaneously ZDV during his tenure. Mike has been a massive asset to ZLC for the entire time he has been here, and I'd like to wish him luck as he moves on to become senior staff at ZKC. Additionally, big thanks to him for staying around as the interim TA until we could find a new one.

Please join me in welcoming ZDV's newest FE, Jonah Lefkoff! Jonah has been apart of the FE Team since early 2021, and has been a critical member of the FE Team at ZDV and ZLC since before the ZDV-ZLC staff merger. Jonah also has experience as a part of the Web Team and as a Mentor. Thank you Jonah for stepping up!

I'd also like to give a massive thank you to Chris James for all the time he has devoted, and continues to devote, to ZDV as the outgoing FE and incoming TA. Chris will also continue to serve on the FE Team in addition to the TA duties.

First off, I'd like to give a massive thank you to Mike Bencivenga for his time and commitment to the TA role over the last year. Mike has been a massive asset to ZDV for the entire time he has been here, and I'd like to wish him luck as he moves on to become senior staff at ZKC. Additionally, big thanks to him for staying around as the interim TA until we could find a new one.

Secondly, I'm thrilled to announce our newest TA, Chris James! Chris has been a member of ZDV for over 10 years consecutively, and has had involvement at ZDV for over 15 years. Chris has held nearly every VATUSA-recognized staff position during his time in Denver, including a previous stint as TA. Thank you Chris for your time and commitment to ZDV, and welcome back to the senior staff!

First off, I'd like to give a HUGE thanks to Marty Pease for his time and commitment to the EC role over the last 10 months. Marty has been an invaluable asset at ZDV for the entire time he has been here, and I'd like to wish him luck as he moves on to become senior staff at ZKC.

Secondly, I'm thrilled to announce our newest EC, Blake Roberts! Blake is no stranger to events, having been on the ZDV Events Team for several months now in addition to being a ZDV Mentor. We look forward to seeing new fun and unique events in the future at ZDV! Congratulations Blake!

- Must be able to work in a team environment and manage a team of at least 3.

Please join me in welcoming Evan McSweeny as ZDV and ZLC's newest Deputy Air Traffic Manager! Evan has been a vital member of the ZDV and ZLC community for nearly two years, serving as a Mentor, Instructor, and a key member of the Events Team over the past 12 months. His passion and vision for ZDV/ZLC align seamlessly with the rest of the staff, and he has made significant contributions to the ARTCCs in his roles on the Events Team and Training Staff. With a wealth of real-world and VATSIM knowledge and experience, Evan is well-positioned to excel in his new role.

Purpose:
Denver and Salt Lake City ARTCCs are looking for a motivated individual that possesses a high degree of energy and commitment to serve as the Deputy Air Traffic Manager of both facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Report to and serve at the pleasure of the Air Traffic Manager
- Assist in management of the ATC Roster(s), website permissions and access, Discord administration, and other general administrative tasks associated with ZDV/ZLC as delegated by the Air Traffic Manager
- Assists in development of ARTCC SOPs, LOAs, and Policies
- Directly oversees the smooth operation of Events, Facilities, and Web departments
- Maintains a high online presence and community presence
- Monitors the daily activities of the ARTCCs
- Assumes the duties of the ATM when they are unavailable
- Supports the Denver/Salt Lake City ARTCC’s mission of “Community, integrity, and professionalism” while fostering an open and accepting environment
- Serves as a leader to coach and motivate controllers while upholding a culture that builds exceptional internal and external pilot experiences
- Other duties as assigned by the Air Traffic Manager

Requirements:
- Is an active member of VATSIM in good standing
- Possesses a rating of Controller 1 (C1) or higher
- Has a strong understanding of the EC, FE, and WM roles
- Ability to meet all activity requirements as outlined in ZDV 7210.1 and ZLC 7210.1
- Positive and professional attitude with at least four (4) hours available to commit to administrative tasks per week
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong understanding of the US National Airspace System

Preferred Skills:
- Prior teaching/education experience (real world or VATSIM applicable)
- Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience (real world or VATSIM applicable)
- Real world aviation experience
- Familiarity with ZDV and/or ZLC policies and procedures
- Demonstrates the qualities of understanding, patience, restraint, and professionalism

How to Apply:
DATM is a Senior Staff role and therefore is not an entry-level position. The DATM could be required to dedicate several hours daily to managing the ARTCCs. However, the DATM must also be able to utilize his/her staff to effectively delegate tasks to ensure the continued operation of the ARTCCs. Only those who understand the requirements and can make the appropriate commitment should consider applying for this position. Candidates can expect an initial evaluation of their application after which they may be contacted for a comprehensive interview.
