While you all bring up valid points, VATUSA has decided that there needs to be a singular place with boards that are openly accessible for each ARTCC.  Certain ARTCC's forums have many "hoops" that one must jump through prior to gaining access to their forums.  Posting up links with each ARTCC's individual forums is fine but we are not going to remove a board and replace it with a redirect to yet another forum that a member must register at.

Is this where I point out that VATUSA is guilty of this already by deciding they needed their own forums instead of using or asking for more on the main VATSIM site?

Sorry, I'll go back to my hole now.

As I was told we asked in the past and were turned down, but that was also before both of our times.

Well the UK division also has their own forums...why can't we?

I like the new forums, good job guys!

You can. That's not the point I'm making. I'm responding to Brian's statement of not wanting 'yet another forum' linked in and pointing out that VATUSA elected to create 'yet another forum' themselves; I just found it ironic.

Quite possible, quite possible indeed.

This is a little weird. It's like I moved to a new neighborhood but all of the familiar faces followed.

This looks very, very nice. Great job!

[!--quoteo--][div class=\\\'quotetop\\\']QUOTE [/div][div class=\\\'quotemain\\\'][!--quotec--]Please strongly consider this; the various strata of VATSIM bureaucracy are already difficult enough to navigate without seeing multiple forums claiming to be 'the ZLA forums' (just as an example). Unless you are going to mandate that each ARTCC remove their self-hosted forums and use this (which I personally think would be a big mistake), there is no need for duplication and it just creates confusion for new controllers just trying to find information and be in the right place.[/quote]

Agreed.

Otherwise, very nice!!!

After using the forum a bit more and finally having a good look around, Brian, would it be possible to change the color of the read vs. the unread folder icons?  With all the other phpBB themes I'm used to using, you can easily and immediately tell read vs. unread forums.  With the two shades of blue on this forum's theme, I'm finding it darn near impossible to tell the difference.  I can definitely see a difference (albeit a small one) when I look at the key on the bottom, but in a forum with a lot of posts, I'm finding myself having to look at the dates and times and such.

On the other hand, it could just be my laptop.  I haven't tried it on any other computer yet.  Anyone else having trouble with that?  It would certainly be an easy fix if there are others who are having trouble with it.

We are planning on changing those icons anyway, we just did not want to hold up releasing these forums because of those things.  We will be changing them at some point in the future.

Yea,

Apparently I'm one of those who elect to just do things on my own and not read the first dang topic. BIG mistake, just look at my name.

Could someone delete the ZHUEC portion of my name as well as clarify on when one can expect staff access and will this staff access allow us to add events with the calendar for approval?  I know each ARTCC had its own username and password before.

Many, MANY Thanks,

Christopher

I agree with the other posters - confusing the issue with multiple forums labeled "ZAB" do not help anything.

Also, I see that "new staff members are added on the hour, every hour" or however it is put in your first post. I have yet to be granted the necessary staff access. When shall I expect that?

Just was able to figure out what the problem was there, you should be able to get in now.

Perhaps this has been asked but I have not taken the time to read the posts...

I had information on the previous forums that I did not store anywhere else such as the FNO hosts and dates and other such conversations. How can I access it?

Everything from the old forums has been copied over, once your account is updated with the correct access you will see it again.
