Position Description:
-Responsible for the quality of the staff instructors and mentors.
-Reports to the ARTCC's Air Traffic Manager and to the VATUSA Training Director.
-Oversees and administers the ARTCC training program.
-Develops and implements training-related material and projects.
-Ensures that ARTCC instructor positions are adequately staffed.
-Recruits new instructors and recommends appointments to the ARTCC ATM and the VATUSA Training Department.
-Works with instructors and mentors to develop their knowledge and to ensure that training standards are being uniformly applied to all students.
-Tracks the progress of student controllers, including testing, promotions, and recurrent and remedial instruction.
-Manages and leads the Training Division of ZDC.
Requirements:
-Must have previously held an Instructor rating or been a long standing mentor
-If not a current member of ZDC must be willing to transfer and earn all requisite certifications in a fast-tracked program.
-No disciplinary issues in the last six months.
-Knowledgeable in TWRTrainer, (very basic) Euroscope and Aircraft Situation Editor. Training in ESKey and file development will be provided if needed.
Preferences:
-Real world instructional experience; or
-Attendance at FAA Academy; or
-Previously experience as a Training Administrator.
Commitments:
-4 hours devoted to training a week and 2 hours to administrative duties.
-Attend ZDC, regional and VATUSA meetings as a ZDC staff member.
-Remain an active controller as per ZDC policy.
-Answer e-mails within 24 hours of receipt.
-Be routinely visible in ZDC Teamspeak, Forums and the network.
