ZKC is starting a new event series called "Collegiate Aviation Series". ZKC airspace contains several collegiate aviation programs and we want to feature them in the form of events. We will be featuring 2 schools a month. The main focus of these events are to promote general aviation traffic within VATUSA. We would encourage you to fly your favorite general aviation aircraft. Whether it is practice approaches, VFR/IFR cross country flights, or pattern work, we got you covered!
This week we host the event with Fort Worth ARTCC. University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University face off this week. Our two featured airports are University of Oklahoma/Westheimer Airport and Stillwater Regional Airport. OU has a fleet of Cessna 152s, Piper Warriors, Piper Arrows, Piper Seminoles, Beechcraft Barrons, and a Beechcraft King Air 90. OU uses the callsign "Crimson" and files flight-plans with the "OUA" prefix. OSU has a fleet of Cessna 152s, Cessna 172s, Cessna 182RGs, Piper Seminoles, and a Beechcraft King Air 90. You can expect services from Westheimer Tower, Stillwater Tower, Oklahoma City Approach, Fort Worth Center and Kansas City Center. Be sure to fly this event and avoid the game-day traffic on Saturday!
